Teaching is like Square Dancing

           Teaching is like square dancing because to become a teacher you have to learn the steps it takes to be a professional. Teachers have to go to school to learn how to become a teacher and with square dancing you have to go to lessons to learn the moves to be a square dancer. In square dancing each move has a definition that you have to memorize which is like teaching because you have to know the information you are going to teach. There are many different levels to square dancing from basic to challenge and with teaching there are going to be students that are at different achievement levels in your classroom. Every student goes through these different levels throughout their schooling and we as teachers have to be able to teach to these different levels.

            Teachers want to build a community with their students and their colleagues to provide everyone with an equal opportunity. Teachers are not always going to have the right answers, so it will be nice to have other teachers help when you need it. Square dancers have the same goal because we have to work with seven other people and make sure we all know the moves so that we can get back home when we are told to do so. We create a sense of community within that square in order to have everyone succeed. Teachers are caring, loving, and have the best interest in mind when it comes to teaching their students. This is similar to square dancing because everyone knows everyone and we all care about one another. Teaching is like Square Dancing.
